Glencairn House Care Home Dorchester

Our Approach

Professional and compassionate care supporting an excellent quality of life for all our residents.

We are committed to providing exceptional, consistent, and person-centred care. Our whole team works tirelessly every day to ensure that each resident receives the compassion and support they need to live a happy and fulfilled life.

To help us stay true to our core principles, we have developed a series of Home Values that we use every day to guide the care we offer to each resident. Key commitments include:

  • The decision-making process around care assessment, planning and delivery, will always reflect our core values of respect, choice, dignity, independence, responsibility, fulfilment, equality, participation, privacy and accountability;
  • Every effort is made to ensure that residents are always given the necessary information and options to make informed decisions about their care, potential risks, or specific requirements;
  • Where residents lack capacity, we will always involve duly authorised representatives to make decisions on behalf of their loved one;
  • We are dedicated to ensuring that each resident receives the personal and professional care they need to protect and support their health and well-being; and
  • Our team are committed to supporting residents in fulfilling their own goals and aspirations in all aspects of daily life, including the chance to develop new skills and knowledge.

While our ‘Home Values’ guide how we offer care, it’s how we deliver that care that makes all the difference. In fact, our wonderful team of highly experienced, dedicated, caring and compassionate people are why Glencairn is the welcoming, safe and comfortable ‘family’ Home that it is.

“Glencairn has been caring for Mum for the last almost 5 years and it’s hard to fault anything they’ve done for her. The staff are unfailingly helpful and compassionate, Mum is thriving on the food and receives excellent medical care. The entertainment is plentiful and varied. The environment is always clean.

Through all the trials and tribulations of the Covid pandemic the staff we’re scrupulous in conforming to the regulations in force, whist doing all they could to maintain access for relations of the residents. Residents have their own rooms which they’re quite at liberty to spend as much time in as they wish, there’s no forced participation in anything, residents wishes are respected, though that obviously has to be tempered with the practicalities of the situation.”
